Our Play School/ Amader Khela School

Amader Khela School or Our Play School is a playful happening of co-creating a pre-primary play based school with the neighbouring homestead around Co.Creation.Architects studio. Architects of CCA, POCAA and children’s parents facilitated session with creative play for the children aged 2 to 5 years in the office verandah.

The children would come here to draw, craft, paint, sing, sleep, dance and eat.

The idea of the play school was to engage the neighbouring homesteads to let their children think creatively from a very early age. As approximately 90% of a child’s brain develops by age 5, making the first few years special has a significant impact on lifelong learning, health, and behavior. So, all the mothers gathered and started the play school together. As we love to spend time with children, we were excited too to join them.

In our play school, children would be seen to organize their own footwear, sit in a circle on the floor, distribute food among their friends, and organize the bowls after finishing the meal. One gets to listen to lots of songs and poems while passing by. Some days, classes are outdoors under the banyan tree where children would jump, hop, run, and wallow. Some days, children would be visiting gardens, know the names of the birds, know the color from nature, and plant seeds in eggshells. Some days are completely free and wild!  Children can sleep, scribble as they like, read books, or simply take a nap in the school. Some days we learnt shapes, how to wash hands, folded papers to learn origami or knew about plants and nutritious food.

Our Play school is such a relief for children, parents and last but not least for us!
